Conversion Charts — FAQ

What is the fuel rail pressure in kPa for a diesel engine?

Common rail diesel fuel rail pressure ranges from approximately 200 bar (2,900 psi / 20,000 kPa) at idle to 1,800 bar (26,000 psi / 179,000 kPa) at full load. The exact pressure depends on the engine and operating conditions.

What temperature does a diesel DPF regenerate at?

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) regenerates at approximately 600–700°C (1,112–1,292°F). Active regeneration uses post-injection to raise exhaust temperature. Passive regeneration occurs naturally at sustained highway speeds.

How do I convert psi to kPa?

Multiply psi by 6.895 to get kPa. For example, 100 psi × 6.895 = 689.5 kPa. To convert kPa to psi, divide by 6.895.

What is the maximum EGT (exhaust gas temperature) for a diesel engine?

Maximum exhaust gas temperature (EGT) for most diesel engines is approximately 1,200°F (649°C) under sustained load. Exceeding this limit can damage turbocharger bearings, exhaust valves, and aftertreatment components.
