P0705 — Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit (PRNDL Input)
P0705 sets when the transmission range sensor signal does not match a valid Park/Neutral/Drive/etc. position or is missing. Always check and adjust the shift cable/linkage before replacing the sensor — a misadjusted sensor can prevent starting or cause incorrect shift behavior. Corrosion in the connector is common on trucks and SUVs.

Fault Overview
Misadjusted range sensor or shift cable, failed range sensor, wiring issues, connector corrosion, and internal sensor failure are the primary causes.

Diagnostic Flow — FSM Sequence
AI Diesel Tech enforces this evidence-gate sequence. Each gate must pass before advancing.
5 steps locked behind Technician Mode- 1Step 1 — Monitor Range Position While Moving the Shifter: Monitor range position on the scan tool while moving the shifter through all positions.
- 2Step 2 — Check Mechanical Adjustment of the Cable/Linkage: Check and adjust the shift cable or linkage per OEM specification.
- 3Step 3 — Inspect the Connector for Corrosion: Inspect the range sensor connector for corrosion and pin tension.
- 4Step 4 — Measure Voltages or States at the Sensor: Measure voltages or digital states at the sensor through each gear position.
- 5Step 5 — Adjust or Replace the Sensor: Adjust or replace the sensor as needed.
- 6Step 6 — Verify Start Enable and Correct Range Display: Verify start enable in Park and Neutral and correct range display in all positions.
