P0125 — Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control
P0125 sets when the engine does not reach the required temperature for closed-loop operation within the calibrated time after start-up. Very similar diagnosis to P0128 — start with coolant level and thermostat. Verify ECT sensor accuracy against a real thermometer. After thermostat replacement, bleed the cooling system completely.

Fault Overview
Stuck-open thermostat, low coolant level, failed ECT sensor, continuous cooling fan operation, and incorrect thermostat are the primary causes.

Diagnostic Flow — FSM Sequence
AI Diesel Tech enforces this evidence-gate sequence. Each gate must pass before advancing.
4 steps locked behind Technician Mode- 1Step 1 — Check Coolant Level: Check coolant level and condition.
- 2Step 2 — Compare ECT Scan Data to Actual Temperature: Compare ECT scan data to actual temperature using an infrared thermometer.
- 3Step 3 — Monitor Warm-Up Time: Monitor warm-up time on the scan tool. Excessively long warm-up confirms a stuck-open thermostat.
- 4Step 4 — Replace Thermostat if Warm-Up Is Excessively Long: Replace the thermostat if warm-up is excessively long and the ECT sensor is accurate.
- 5Step 5 — Verify Fans Are Not Running Continuously: Verify cooling fans are not running continuously, which would prevent warm-up.

Typical Repair Costs
Replace thermostat $40–200; repair coolant leaks $50–400; replace ECT sensor $50–150.
